Carbon fiber reinforcement, I believe many people will recognize, as a new reinforcement method, now carbon fiber reinforcement is widely used in building reinforcement industry, playing an important role.

Carbon fiber reinforcement includes carbon fiber sheet reinforcement and carbon fiber sheet reinforcement. Carbon fiber sheet reinforcement is very common in reinforcement construction. Carbon fiber sheet is divided into one-way carbon fiber sheet and two-way carbon fiber sheet.

So is CFRP reinforcement one-way or two-way?

One-way carbon fiber cloth refers to a kind of carbon fiber cloth with a large number of carbon fibers in one direction (usually in the longitudinal direction) and a small amount of carbon fibers in the other direction, which is usually thin. Therefore, all the strength of the cloth is in the same direction.

Mechanical properties of carbon fiber cloth - carbon fibers with high tensile strength are preimpregnated with epoxy resin to form composite reinforcing materials (unidirectional continuous fibers). The epoxy resin binder is bonded to the structure to be reinforced along the direction of tension or perpendicular to the direction of crack to form a new composite, so that the strength, stiffness, crack resistance and elongation of the structure can be improved by the joint force of the reinforced material and the original reinforced concrete.

Unidirectional carbon fiber cloth is woven by carbon fiber bundles in the same direction, and bi-directional carbon fiber cloth is woven by warp and weft directions. We usually refer to carbon fiber cloth as unidirectional carbon fiber cloth, so the use effect of unidirectional carbon fiber cloth will be better.

Bidirectional carbon fiber sheet is more suitable for the reinforcement of irregular structural cracks, or pipelines and other building reinforcement, with high cost.

The unidirectional carbon fiber cloth is more suitable for common reinforcement projects, and the cost is relatively low, so it can explain why the unidirectional carbon cloth is used more, the performance of unidirectional carbon cloth can meet the ordinary reinforcement projects, and the permeability of carbon fiber glue is better.

2. Advantages of one-way CFRP reinforcement construction:

1. The construction quality is easy to guarantee because the carbon fiber sheet is soft, even if it is strengthened on the surface of uneven objects, it also ensures 100% effective pasting. If there are bubbles on the sticking surface, the air can be easily driven away by injecting the sticking agent with a syringe, but sticking steel plate is very difficult.

2. Convenient construction without wet operation, no need for large construction equipment, no need for site fixtures. Carbon fiber cloth can be tailored at will, the construction is simple and the construction period is short.

3. The weight of each square metre is less than 1.0 kg (including glue weight) after pasting with thin thickness and light weight. The thickness of a layer of carbon fiber cloth is only 0.111 mm/0.167 mm. After repairing, the self-weight and shape dimension are basically not increased.

4. Extensive bonding of CFRP can be widely used in various types and shapes of concrete structures, without changing the shape of the structure and affecting the appearance of the structure. Carbon fiber sheet has excellent physical and mechanical properties. Its tensile strength is 7 - 10 times higher than that of ordinary steel. Its elastic modulus is close to that of steel. It is very suitable for reinforcement and repair of reinforced concrete.
